Swedish label IKEA has allowed their agency Acne to create a social media campaign claiming “The Original” in response to Balenciaga retailing a leather copy of their FRAKTA store bag. They comically explain how to tell the difference between an Original and a Balenciaga copy. Very cheeky. Balenciaga is currently retailing the blue carrier for £1365 online but are yet to confirm or deny it’s resemblance to the IKEA store bag. The Swedish store did comment to say “We are deeply flattered that the Balenciaga tote bag resembles the Ikea iconic sustainable blue bag for 99 cents. Nothing beats the versatility of a great big blue bag!”
